Last week there was lots of chatter about our silk organzas on Facebook and Twitter (thank you very much!), so it inspired me to feature the beautiful purple silk organza as our #FabricOfTheWeek!
This fabric is entirely spun and woven by hand in a Fair Trade Cambodian weaving community, which gives it a luxurious, exclusive and unique quality. In a single layer it’s a very light purple colour, and as you start layering it up it becomes an incredible, vibrant, violet purple. I chose this colour to fit in with the trends for next year – I’m obsessed with ensuring everything we sell works alongside Fashion and Interior trends.
As a handcrafted fabric, it is beautifully delicate with a gorgeous, featherweight lightness but a great structure – it’s lovely to work with. The fabric is made from natural, peace silk fibres with an almost zero carbon footprint – as all the spinning is done by hand and the weaving is done on looms. Not only is it a stunning fabric, it’s a fabric that incorporates animal rights and sustainability.
