Our Hand Block Zig Zag Blue Organic Cambric is so popular that we usually sell the whole lot before even receiving it! That’s why we decided to honour this wonderful fabric as soon as it arrived back in the shop and have made it our #FabricOfTheWeek!
The cambric is an organic fabric with an air force blue base, complete with a line-drawn zig zag print in a deep purple-red colour. The design on the zig zag organic fabric originated in India, and is printed by hand using a “hand-block” technique, so it has a truly rich, authentic feel. From Mary’s review on the product page (thank you Mary!), you’ll see that although it’s technically called a cambric, it is a bit heavier than that, so it’s great for things like trousers. It washes and irons like a dream!
The weaving and printing of the zig zag organic fabric is done in a cooperative and certified Fair Trade by the WFTO – if that’s all gobbledy gook, have a read of this article. As it is a hand-made product, the process uses virtually no energy or water – an added bonus!
It’s a really gorgeous fabric… in fact… I’m feeling inspired to make a couple of Christmas & Birthday presents, so you’d best get your order in quick before I do!
